I'm Tara; wife, mother of three, follower of Jesus, photographer, musician, teacher, vegetarian. I pursued a career as a music teacher and I hold a Master's of Music degree from Western Michigan University. I started my photography journey with black and white film in high school. I probably shouldn't mention that I got a C in that class... My obsession with digital photography began shortly after the birth of my second child. I live in the fabulously hip little community of Mattawan in rural West Michigan.

Children are my biggest inspiration. My own children inspire me everyday. Their toes, missing teeth, eye lashes, non-stop energy and mischief are my favorite subjects. My style is bright and clean. I love color, lines and shapes, movement, and great light, but above all else authentic expression. Laughter, quiet moments, joy, thoughtfulness, tantrums, and whimsical expressions make my heart skip a beat. I love good stories and am constantly seeking out ways to tell them in my imagery.

The most important goal of each session is to bring out the true character within each individual photographed. I am passionate about storytelling. Come to your session prepared to dance, laugh, hug, whisper secrets, jump, tickle, and maybe cause a little mischief. Many styles of portrait photography are represented in my body of work, from Lifestyle and on-location, to studio portraiture, authenticity and expression are common themes throughout my images.
